Lifelong Torontonian says , "Let's get back to basics."
ABOUT ME
I am not affiliated with any political party or organization.
I don't accept donations or contributions of any type – financial, volunteer, or other.
Currently retired, I consider public office to be a civic responsibility – not a career.
Toronto-born and raised, I have witnessed the consequences of political decisions, distractions, and debacles and the decline of the law-abiding, tax-paying middle class.
I lived above the family-run hardware store for many years. My first job, at age 10, was an unpaid apprenticeship – mopping the floor.
Retired globe-trotter. Visiting cities near and far was initially undertaken to fulfill compulsory course requirements for an undergraduate program in urban planning. Cities can be charming, dangerous, shady, or wonderful – depending on leadership.
My political idol is Lee Kuan Yew. He transformed an impoverished, dirty port, plagued by disease and social squabbles under British colonial rule into an independent, orderly, safe, clean, prosperous city-state having only one resource – people – all of whom strive to exceed expectations and deliver excellence. Impressive and successful team effort at city building under the leadership of Lee Kuan Yew!!
MY REMUNERATED EXPERIENCE
Municipal Non-Profit Housing Corp. Project Development Officer (1980s)
Building and Development Industry Housing Market Analyst
Independent Business Partner/TICO Retail & Wholesale Lic.
Daycare Administrator
Restaurant Manager
Waitress
I AM FIGHTING FOR
Lower taxes & utility charges
Public safety, security & order
Evidence-based decision making
Public infrastructure maintenance & improvement
Fairness, consistency, transparency & accountability
Focus on municipal responsibilities (Roads, TTC, Police, Parks, Sewers, etc.)
Restriction of all running, skipping, biking events to parks & trails – off the roads
Reduction in number of tax-exempt properties and increase in Head & Bed Levies
Cancellation of Grants/Rebates (Political Donations, Eco-Roofs, Circular Food Innovators Fund, Local Leadership Grant, PollinateTO, Climate Action Fund, etc.)
Re-allocation of about $2 Billion, 10% of Toronto's Annual Operating Budget (the handouts to charities, non-profits, and other) – all of whom can raise $$$ funds from the private sector). Note: Ottawa is currently fundraising in the private sector to renovate 24 Sussex Drive, the official residence of the Prime Minister of Canada.
